Functional Medicine - GETTING TO THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM
In Functional Medicine we're looking for the underlying cause of the problem as opposed to just suppressing symptoms. This is what's called 'root-cause resolution". It's the difference between turning off the stove and just putting a lid on a boiling pot.
I'm looking for the bigger picture. I want to build strong relationships with my patients - I want to take the time to understand and listen to what is happening in their lives.

Being trained in functional medicine, I will work with you to get to the root of the problem.
Functional medicine is a very individual and personalised approach to medicine looking at the root cause rather than symtomalogy. While conventional medicine does a great job at treating acute and emergency medicine situations, functional medicine is better suited toward chronic illness.
I'm hunting for the reasons why the body isn’t functioning properly - digestive problems, fatigue, skin issues, osteoporosis, food intolerance and allergies, autoimmune issues, hormonal imbalances, muscular skeletal issues, depression, diabetes, anorexia, fertility, weight loss, autism, unexplained illness... the list goes on. I am not so concerned with the diagnosis, but finding out what the underlying problem is.
When we look through a systems biology approach restoring health looks different. We're looking to find out how can we help the body heal itself and restore function to the body's systems in order to provide long term, sustainable healing. I see my job as a detective... hunting down the root cause of the problem and walking alongside patients on the path towards good health.
My approach is not to dwell on calories carbs, fats or proteins. It isn't about creating lists of restrictions or good or bad foods. I work with clients to create a happy, healthy life.
As we work together we will look at how all parts of your life affect your health as a whole.Together we'll work to reach your health goals in areas such as achieving optimal weight, reducing food cravings, increasing sleep and maximising energy. As we work together you'll develop a deep understanding of the food and lifestyle choices that work best for you and implement lasting changes that will improve your energy, balance and health.
